What Designer Colours can confirm

This page supports colour-reference research. Any paint, coating, finish or matching service is a separate choice and is shown only where confirmed.

Using this colour reference

Use an NCS notation to communicate the target colour, then establish the separate paint system, product, finish and supplier. A digital reference does not guarantee the appearance of a mixed coating.

Natural Colour System references

Search a code, open its reference page, then compare branded paints.

NCS is presented here as a colour-reference system rather than an ordinary decorative paint manufacturer. Each published reference retains its existing canonical Designer Colours page and stored digital colour data.

  1. 01Search the NCS code

Use the code search below, including spaces and hyphens where known.

  2. 02Open the reference

Review its stored screen reference, LRV, family and recorded mixing information.

  3. 03Compare branded paints

Use the nearest branded-paint section on the reference page to build a physical sample shortlist.

Recorded paint systems

Individual NCS records can list paint systems into which Designer Colours can advise on mixing the reference. This is an enquiry pathway, not confirmation of every colour, product, base, finish or pack size.

About NCS

NCS, the Natural Colour System, is a standardised colour communication system based on visual colour perception.

The NCS Index 2050 contains all 2,050 NCS Standard colours, organised by hue and nuance and identified by NCS notation.

NCS Colour: About the system

Is NCS a paint brand?

No. NCS is a standardised system for defining and communicating colour. A coating manufacturer or supplier must still determine the paint product, formulation and finish used to produce an NCS target.

What should I confirm before ordering?

Confirm the exact colour, product range, finish, base, pack size, current availability, price, collection or delivery method, and expected lead time. A colour catalogue record alone does not confirm any of these.

Why can the screen colour differ?

Displays, room lighting, neighbouring materials, substrate and sheen can all change perception. Use digital colour for discovery, then judge an appropriate physical sample in the real space.
