How to Install

Measuring
Measure the total perimiter of where you want the cornice to go, add 10% to allow for wastage when cutting, and divide this amount by 2.4 metres (or 8 feet if you prefer). This is the approximate number of lengths of cornice that you will need. For large design repeats you may need to allow for more wastage in order to align the mitred corners.
Prepare the surface
Ensure that the wall and ceiling are clean and degreased. Make sure that any cracks are filled and the surface is relatively flat. (If you have a curved wall, our flexible cornice is appropriate). Do not put up the mouldings over wallpaper - cut out the section of wallpaper first.
Mitring the lengths
Cut the mouldings using a fine-toothed saw. For corners, place the cornice in a mitre box of suitable size (face-up), and cut at 45 degree angle. Do your best to match one length to the next if there is a design repeat. Remember that the more ornate your design is, the more important it is to match it correctly.
Installation
Use a mastic gun with a cartridge type water based coving adhesive. Apply the adhesive onto the piece of cornice both where it will meet the ceiling and where it will meet the wall. Now simply position the cornice against the surface, and stick. Use nails to help fix the cornice into the wall whilst the adhesive sets. It is advisable to countersink the nails right into the moulding and disguise them later with filler. For the very large designs (Naldo, Leolo, Concetta, Agnola) you may want to countersink screws through the moulding.
Finishing
Use a good quality multi-purpose filler to disguise any joints or nail holes, and then paint over everything with any paint you like. The possibilities of paint finishes are endless, so feel free to experiment.
