If you really havent got the will or the time to experiment with colours, here are some brief suggestions of colour schemes that work well.

Green
Green is a natural colour, varying from citrus lime to sage, and comes from the cool side of the colour wheel.
For drama: use green with red or orange and white.
For harmony: use green with blue, yellow, cream and linen tones.
Blue

True moody blue is a timeless favourite, a cool colour that suggests tranquillity. Deep, intense blues bring energy and a fresh feel to a room. Pale, soft blues give sense of open, airy space.
For drama: use deep blue with white, terracotta and rich ochre.
For harmony: use mid-blue with cream and white.
Lavender

This hue sits between the primary colours of blue and red. Because of this mix of warm and cool tones there is a balance within lavender. Choose either a warm, pinkish lavender that 'comes forward' to meet the eye, or a cooler violet that will seem to recede and bring rest.
For drama: use lavender with green or orange.
For harmony: use lavender with pink or cream.
Yellow

This is the most cheerful colour, with a bright, light-reflecting quality that lifts the spirits. Yellow is warm and brings light to the darkest room. Tones range from citrus lemon to sultry yellow ochre.
For drama: use strong yellow with purple or green.
For harmony: use yellow with blue, cream or white or mix pale and strong yellows.
Pink

Pink is an extraordinary colour: psychologists believe a pink room will put you in a good, optimistic mood. Tones range from pale fairy floss hues to rose and subtle salmon.
For drama: use pink with turquoise, violet or red.
For harmony: use pale pink with rose and white or salmon with linen and warm neutral tones
Aqua

Long popular in the bathroom, cool aqua is a mix of blue and green and appears to recede in a room, giving a feeling of space and depth. It suggests water and has a soothing, cleansing quality suitable for a restful room.
For drama: use aqua with deep, intense blues and white or with violet and cream..
