This involves combining colours which blend well with each other, such as oranges, yellows and greens. These colours are neighbours on the colour wheel.

Analogous colors work in harmony together. They have less contrast than complementary colors. Sometimes they are chosen because of the fact that they give a good representation of the colours of nature, the colours that make our world beautiful.
In his book 'Texturing and Painting', Owen Demers writes:
"Think of purple, blue, and, magenta colors in a twilight sky or the yellows, golds, and oranges in an Arizona desert. A pine forest has light greens to blues and purples within its depths."
When deciding how to use analagous colours, simply find some pictures of landscapes, seascapes, and skyscapes and use the colours you see.
