Colourwashing can be done using two tones of the same colour, or using two different colours. If you want to be daring, you can use more than two shades or colours.
How to create this effect:
- Apply Acrylic (water-based) Eggshell basecoat in the colour of your choice and allow to dry for 6-8 hours
- Mix 4 parts of Acrylic Scumble Glaze to 1 part water and add Mixol stainers of your choice till you reach the desired colour
- Repeat for another colour if desired
- Put the coloured glaze into a paint kettle, and slowly add water until a cream-like consistency is achieved
- Apply the glaze using a medium sized synthetic brush, brushing it on in a random pattern
- Blend colours by dabbing a stippling brush onto the wall
- Brush over the wall with a softener
- Protect with an Acrylic Varnish
